PVC depth in sump?

How far into the sump do I put the PVC for my drains?

That depends.
Pipes that run with no air in them go below the water line so they are silent and don't make bubbles. Pipes that run with air in them are best kept just above the water line in the sump.
You may have to be clever to control splashing and hold down the salt creep though.
If you are going to run filter socks you have to be able to get them in and out.

Just wanted to add my setup is with bean animal also where the water dumps into the sump is next to the filter socks.

I think the primary drain outlet should be about 1 (edit) inches below water line to keep the siphon.

Thanks @PirateDan, would have been a real stumper if the sump was only 8” high.

Minimally below the water line, 1-2". The deeper the outlet, longer it can take to establish a siphon. Which *could* lead to DT overflowing, if you run a high water level.

I'm with dougthefish the full siphon drain should be 1 or 2 inches below the water line. At least that's what works best for me.

Thanks everyone, just to make sure I am understanding correct, that the full siphon drain, where it goes into my sump, should only be 1-2 inches below the water line? What about the other 2?

There are only 2that go under water. The drain and emergency drain. That only leave one more and that’s the return that hooks to pump.

If you're doing a bean animal, run the secondary below the waterline as well. The emergency drain should be above, so when you hear it engage (water falling), you know to check it out.
