alright, I've owned fixtures before but it seems like the Aquactinics fixture does not have a slide on splash guard. does this mean I have to take it apart every time I have to switch bulbs? just wondering if there's an easier way to do this for those that have them or have worked with them.

any input or help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Mine is a few yrs old and I have to take one side off to slide the shield off

Just leave the screws out of one of the side panels, it actually fits in pretty sung and shouldn't fall out. I just pop it off then slide out the guard. Takes only a couple of seconds.

Removing those screws is really tedious, that's why leaving them out makes the most sense.

Thanks guys. I'm yet to play around with them but I will have to so I can play around with bulb combo. I think I'm pretty much set on what bulb combo I need to go to. I think it'll be alright since I only have to change bulbs every 12-18 months. I think with the bulbs/reflectors not getting splashed by salt water, they'll last longer. also, not being overdriven should pro long the life of the bulbs. so I'm thinking of changing bulbs every 18 months. I also used to change the reflectors with the bulbs so Yay for savings! :) :)

What kind of corals are you keeping? I need to change my T5's every 6-8 months - after that they go downhill quickly.

I have a clownfish & anemone tank. so only BTA's need lotsa light. I will probably add corals that won't require too much light so the clowns have other corals to host. :)
