Q-Tip sponges taking over my tank!

Alright so I have been seeing a huge increase in the amount of q-tip sponges in my tank.What could be the cause of this?Is there any way to get rid of them?Please tell me if any of you guys have them.

How old is the tank? I had them when I upgraded and added a bunch of rock. They went away after a month or so.
