I'm looking for some advice please.

I'm about to buy a tank breakdown.
I normally only QT 1-2 fish at a time.
I'm going to be using copper power for the QT.

just wanted to know if treating around 10 fish all at once is advisable?

You can in a large tank such as 40 bredder or 55g. For copper power or coppersafe, therapuetic level is 2.25-2.5 and use a reliable vopper kit such as Hanna brand and do this for a FULL 30 days

Ok, smaller fish. Should work- Do monitor ammonia levels with a reliable test kit and maintain good water quality and add air stone for added oxygen

I use a seneye for ammonia levels, have an airstone for the QT tank I use the hanna checker for the copper power

The only concern I would have is of this is a newly setup quarantine system that’s a lot of fish to be added at the same time .
Along with measuring copper levels ammonia should be monitored as well

QT tank had been up and running for around 5 months. I ghost feed once a week with a cube of mysis. Tank has a fair amount of live rock and siporax in the sump

The live rock will absorb copper which can never be used in any future display tanks ?

sounds like you know what you’re doing . I was just stating the possible issues .

Ok great. With the number of fish, as mentioned about water quality also add to any filter some type of biological source such as sponge seeded with bacteria

For what it’s worth and secretly . I haven’t quarantined fish in a few years .
I don’t have another tank to setup .
but take precautions where I purchase fish from
Still risky but it’s worked for me

I was very tempted to just put them in my DT, but unfortunately I've suffered from not QT before so I have a habit of doing it regardless.

The one lfs I used to buy fish from was terrible….
I believe everything was caught with cyanide at that time .
nothing ever lived long and rapidly developed many diseases over time .

I’ve been fairly lucky in recent years , only buying fish from one lfs where I hold a lot of trust in the fish room manager to hold and quarantine fish for a few weeks before I take them home

Unfortunately when I first started out I didn't know anything and trusted a shop thay told me it's fine buy my stock and put it in your tank no worries.
Unfortunately that'd ended up in 5 fish dying.
So since that I've always QT.
To me it's not worth the risk.
These fish are coming from a tank breakdown and although they look healthy and I kind of know the owner I'm still not sure I want to risk my own fish I have with a chance of catastrophic death.
I'm lucky I have the room for a spare tank so may as well use it

Adding a second tank to our small apartment beside the current 230 I already have. I would be worried either eviction or divorce

I just finished 11 fishes in a 20l for 30 days. I did have bioballs and sponges I took from my dt to keep ammonia down and the fishes were small avg 1.5 inches (damsels) and a few 3” fishes (powder blue, blue jaw trigger, emperor, flame angel, etc). No problem with your new fishes.

I would QT too since lost a lot of fishes at one point to velvet!

I don't remember, are there safe copper products for mandarins?

Is the mandarin eating prepared or frozen foods? If not, it may be an issue re: pod population in the smaller tank (especially with all the other fish who are more aggressive eaters and almost certainly enjoy snacking on pods).

The mandarin is the one fish I was concerned with. It is eating frozen mysis
