I’m buiding a 50g display which is almost done with the cycle. I got 2 clown fishes and placed them in the QT tank and dosed with prozipro for around 5 days now.
On day 2 and 3 I noticed a couple of white spots on one of them, the spost were there in the morning and disappeared sometime in between then and me getting back from work. No spots on days 4 and 5. I did 100% water changes every 2-3 day and sanitized the tank with H2O2 during the process.

My question is: I believe the spots were signs of ich, should I still treat them with copper powder eventhough Im not seeing the spots anymore before adding them to the main display? Also, 15 days on copper at 2.3-2.5ppm and 15 off just observing is enough?

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

I generally treat with copper power before I treat with prazi. The reason is that protozoans like ich can kill the fish faster than the flukes that prazi treats do.

The spots dropping off can still be a sign of ich - the spots drop off the fish during part of its life cycle, but then more of them return.

I prefer 30 days of coppersafe or copper power.

Thank you for the response Jay!

Since I started the prazi treatment, I will just finish the 7 days treatment then start the copper for 30 days like you mentioned.
What is your process for copper treatment? 30 days at 2.5ppm and a couple of days for observation without copper before fish goes in main display or 30 days at 2.5ppm and no signs during this period under copper the fish can go in the main display right after?

If there is no active disease, I aim for 2.25 ppm for Copper Power or Coppersafe for 30 days.

Hi-jacking thread.... after 30 days, simply drip acclimate and drop them in? (and after Prazi Pro etc)

I like to do an observation of another two weeks at least, and no copper just clean SW. Can never be too cautious.

Thanks! I also just reread the current procedure and it explains literally what I asked. I'm dumb.
