My son in law just got stuff from Tampa bay and it was amazing. Made my live rock look so bare.
I got mine from my LFS which had some stuff on it but nothing compared to theirs.
I was thinking of ordering twenty lbs and adding it to my tank but I don't want to a chance
Maybe I'll throw into my QT for now

Tampa Bay rock is great stuff and I plan to use it to set up my tank after my upcoming move. That being said - I agree about not adding it to an established aquarium. I did and ended up with a mantis shrimp that killed a bunch of fish/snails, crabs, etc before I caught it and got it out of there.

I wouldn't hesitate to use it on a new tank though and just give yourself an opportunity to catch unwanted hitchhikers first!

KPA in my experience is very personable and come from a long line of reef conservation. I am sure they can accommodate any demands you may have. For instance, they advertise many nano size items that would require far less than 60lbs.:)

I also have rock from TBS and enjoy the diversity from different regions. I do have the advantage of both being in my back yard, so to say.

Has anyone purchased from www.liverocknreef.com? They are based out of Florida but they have a local store here in Utah. I stopped in a couple years ago to have a look but I didn't need rock at the time so I didn't buy. Their stuff looked great at the time but I haven't really heard much about them on forums or even in other lfs gossip. I'm just curious because I've been toying with the idea of setting up a nano at my office.

Looks great. Lots of purple . Did you have any unwanted pests ?

The only unwanted pest was one mantis shrimp. I was very happy with the product and customer service. It really was amazing the amount of life on the rock.

I just ordered from ARC Reef . This rock isn't seeded in the Gulf which can have more plant life on it. It's seeded in the Atlantic. It will have no Plant live and will have more coral life. I'll post pics once it's in my tank.

Nice thread... After a 6 year break, I'am currently setting up a 40 breeder tank, and in need of rock. I have great dry rock but only need a few pieces to seed. Here in cincy, no luck finding any. Most online sites for LR want to charge air freight, or crazy shipping prices, or you have to buy large amounts of rock.

ARCreef.com charged me $50 to ship 30lbs of rock and 20lbs of sand via ups ground.

I just received a phone call from ARCreef.com
They called to ask me what I did and didn't want included in my shipment ( like emerald crabs, porcelain crabs, different kinds of worms, different kinds of shrimp, brittle stars, feather dusters, etc.). I wasn't expecting that call. Pretty cool they would try to accommodate your personal preferences.

I'm sure TBSW rock is everything people are saying it is. I really liked what ARCreef stated on their web site and the fact that they do a lot of reef related research and conservation. I'm confident their rock is going to be just as nice if not nicer.

Also....the rock is aquacultured in the Pacific Ocean not the Gulf. It won't have any plant life on it. I don't want and green vegetation on the rock.
