quarantine hobbyists fish (not from store)

invaluable information- thanks everyone.

Let me ask this..

I live an hour away from tsm aquatics that qt’s for 30 days copper and i think prazi. You’re paying a surplus for this. Would some of you still qt from a place like tha?

If they use prazi in addition to 30 days copper, you’d be fairly safe. The risk from transfer stress is still there, but since the fish recently went through quarantine, they won’t be harboring any chronic infections like a fish from a hobbyist might.

Quarantining fish does more than disease prevention too. It gets the fish into a (hopefully) stressfree environment, away from stress of tankmates, competition for food, terriotry, etc. Under this stress free environmnet, they can acclimate to your schedule, your foods, you water parameters, your routine, etc.
