Quarantine in soft coral

What’s recommended quarantine for soft corals? I see all sorts of different ways of doing this posted online. What can they bring into a tank?

My tank is empty right now and my first two fish are in quarantine right now. They won’t be ready to go into the tank for a few more weeks. Can I add soft coral in DT now and anything that could potentially infect my fish would be dead in a few weeks when I add the fish in? Do corals need to be quarantined for months on end to kill everything?

I don't think many people quarantine corals. They dip them to remove some potential things that are much more likely to be an issue for the coral than for any fish.

There are a number of commercially available coral dips. And some use a mix of Bayer bug killer and water (search for it). They all work pretty well.

Personally, I have a 16g 'holding' tank that almost anything new goes into for some period of time. Some times it's just a day or two and sometimes it's weeks. Probably more of my livestock comes from collecting in the wild, but I do buy some corals and anemones. I don't dip and I don't treat quarantined fish unless I see some issue. In 15+ years I've had very few issues (some aiptasia, a round of flat worms and some run away algae).
