I've kept mine on 24 hours a day since I got it. How long you have the light on is more of a factor of how much waste you are wanting to remove frmo the tank. You can add copepods immediately.

I have read that you should include a rest period of at least a few hours a day.

I was curious about that but they don't have any form of sleep and Algaebarn runs theirs 24/7 with no problem

I'd start 12hrs opposite of your display and adjust from there. What's your phos & nitrate?

Yeah, I believe the thread where I read it said something about the photosynthesis process needing a break periodically. But it sounds like lots of folks are having good results with 24/7 lighting. So if someone needs their chaeto to function 24/7, it likely won’t be a problem.

Great info folks appreciated very much, I have it in refugium and added 8oz copepods turned on light and now hoping for the best. But the best thing I got was a UV light, tank looks so much better already and I just put in yesterday afternoon

Try to keep nitrate between 5 and 10 or so in order to prevent dinos and such
I’m gonna the low numbers was caused by a Diatom Filter I was running for 2 days trying to get my water to clear up. But in the end it didn’t work, so I installed a UV light and I’m 95 percent better
