I have rock with several nice zoas on it. I think something is bothering my bam bams and want to dip the entire rock. My question is, can I dip with coral RX in RODI water, or must I use salt water? Thanks!

When you do a water change, pull a gallon of that aside and dip your corals with it.

You could use RODI with zoas but I probably wouldn't. People do fresh water dips on zoas but you've got salinity, ph, temp issues together with the dip so lots going on to disturb the zoas in addition to whatever you're trying to kill/solve.

How are they behaving?

IMO, both the dips and the RODI water are stressors for a coral. However, the goal is to stress a pest more...to the point of death. The question is...which is most effective at killing pests and/or which is least stressful for the coral?

I think that a dip with RODI water would have the biggest chance of killing pests, but also be a bigger stress to the coral. Perhaps the thing to do is consider whether the pest is easy to kill, and the health/toughness of the coral. If you have a very sensitive coral and a tough to kill pest, you are in a lot worse case than if you have a very hardy coral and a pest that is easy to kill.
