I got 3'' fighting conch in my tank that barred it self under sand and haven't moved in almost a week. can i consider it dead? or is it something normal for them to sit like that for some period of time?

This is funny. I have the exact same situation. I dug him out today and he was healthy as all can be. Five minutes later be buried himself in the sand. If I knew I was going to have a dud I would have never bought him

Give the poor guys a break. If you fed on feces everyday sometimes you would need a break too!

Seriously I have seen them stay in one place for days or weeks at a time and then just go back to racing around the tank.

Following along …
I’ve been considering getting one or a few for my 230 after reading they are great at keeping the same clean .
Are they capable of keeping the same of a 6’ tank clean or are more than one needed in addition to turbo snails and urchins

im more concern about if its dead, its large enough that im my opinion might cause ammonia spike

Your 400G tank isn't going to feel that all all.

For the conch, assuming that you know where it’s buried, you can always dig it up and see if it’s alive (and you could probably use the “Smell Test” to figure out if it’s dead if you’re not sure after unburying it).

Also, not to derail here, but what company do you know that only sells snails, and do they carry an unusual species?

This company, you tell them what your tank size, and what algae problems you got, and based on that they offer you cleaner crew package.
...so based on my tank, in order for me to have my sandbed cleaned, I needed 3 fighting Conchs

Hurricane Ian is heading right over my city tomorrow, i don't know if my family or my tank will be OK or not, but I'm just want to take care of all the possible problems right now, specially with power outages that almost garanted to happen.
