Hi all,

I have a question I have two goniopora on the left it’s all opened up the one on the right is not opened up so much. Any idea why it’s like that? Here are my parameters, ignored the salinity I check my salinity with my Hanna checker and it’s at 1.025

Need more nitrates, and they like manganese daily.
I have 2 gonis doing great, and 2 ok.

How can I bring my nitrates up and what manganese do you dose?
If you want to DIY you can use Sodium Nitrate and Manganese Sulphate and create your own dosing solutions.

Alternately you can buy bottled Nitrate and Manganese additives that comparatively cost a fortune

I dose all for reef, which has trace elements and some diy manganese to boost on the weekend.
Lots of ways to raise nitrates, feed more, dose sodium nitrate, or carefully, ammonium bicarbonate.

In my experience gonis are quite temperamental. It doesn't shock me that you have one that is fine and one that is not.

How long has the one not opening been in the tank? How long has it been in that position? I have 5 or 6 large gonis that are happy as anything but one I bought recently is just.... not opening like it should. I'm sure in time it will.

I agree that you should increase your nitrates in general. Get more fish, feed more, reduce fuge lighting (if you run one), and at worst dose neonitro or something similar.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
