So I had a case of marine ich in my 20 gallon, and I removed all the rocks from it about a week ago.

Does anyone know if this would kill the ich that was on the rocks, and if so, how long it would take before it would be safe to transfer the rocks to a different tank?

Google "ich life cycle" and you'll get good info that says in rare cases up to 72 days. No one mentions no water option...

So it's kind of an unknown?

I know a lot of parasitic *land* species can have cysts or spores remain dormant for a long time, but I'm not sure if that would apply here.

If it's an unknown I guess I'll just hold off on moving my rocks.

yeah, I wonder that too... but suspect the encapsulation MAY provide tormont protection so the 72 days might apply ... thinking of African desert critters that only reappear during rainy season which may or may not have any relevance... but if you are going to wait, might as well the whole time and feel safer about it
