I have read a few articles about Devils Hand coral and them shrinking and not opening at times . The question is : when should I be worried about it not opening , 3 days ? ...6 days ?... 2 weeks ? Mine still has color but I have not noticed it open in 3 or 4 days .

If mine does't open within a week I start wondering what's wrong. I've only had a couple of times they wouldn't open. Once for low alkalinity and once because a flame angel nipping at it. They do close up for a few days sometimes to shed but it usually only lasts a few days.

Had a friend tell me to do a couple small water changes and raise the specific gravity ... it worked after ten gallons of water changes over 3 days it opened back up . It stayed closed for 6 days .

Hes probably just fine....corals are very moody at times, as long as no necrosis or nipped areas are visible and his color is good, I wouldnt worry.
