Hi.
Could someone please tell me the exact outer/inner size for sch 40 1" pipes but in millimeter intead?

I wounder this because i'm thinking about order some plumbing from US and i am in europe. For me 1" is 2.54mm and 1" pipes looks much larger in diameter which is kinda confusing.

Thanks.

This is a hard answer to give 100% as different manufacturers have slightly different measurments and there can be small variations in the pipe itself from production. What pipe were you looking to order?? I ordered all mine from formufit.com they have all the dimensions for there pipe shown on the website

Oh i see.

I'm thinking about buying Eshopps Eclipse Overflow Medium which has 1" bulkheads so i need the rest of the plumbing in 1" as well, and that i would rather like to order from germany because this shop dosen't have grey pcv or flex tubing. I want to mix the plumbing with both pipes and flex tubing which i can find in EU, but i also need to buy some other pvc parts and that i can only find in US.

Maybe this info could be of some help?

The Inner diameter of standard 1" (At least the pipe I have) is 2.54cm and the OD is approximately 3.3cm given a +/- of 1mm.... measuring pipe with a tape measure is a pain lol All 1" pipe should be close to these measurements

Regardless if it's schedule 40 or schedule 80, the OD of 1 inch PVC pipe is 1 5/16 inches.....33.4 mm. It's the ID that is actually slightly different between the two schedules.

Hope this helps.

Edit to Add:

I found a link that might be useful:

This is what i thought. So this means you messure inner diameter mostly while we messure outer diameter. For example the stores i've baught from say 20, 25, 32mm etc, and this is always outer diameter. Just to make i just messured a pipe i bought as 20mm and that is the outer diameter. Maybe 32mm is what i need then..hm

Ok i understand. 33,4mm will give me probleme with our 32mm pipes.

You know my optometrist says my eyes are horrible but eyeballing it and only being off .4 of a mm, ain't that bad if you ask me lol

No that was a really good quess! I suspected 32 because that is next to our 25,4mm, and as i said i was sure 1" was bigger than 25,4mm.

You can find non-metric pvc in the UK which is probably faster and easier on shipping costs. I found this table on a UK website that shows the differences in diameters if that helps.

Although it might be easier to use European PVC for all your plumbing if your other equipment uses the metric system, then you could try to find a adaptor like these ones that adapt from metric to US style pipes.

Yes that makes sense, they rarely use mm. I know a few shops i need to check right now.

This is perfect and solves all my problemes! Nice find!

Edit. I saw wrong, i thought it was from the same store. I can't order from more than one us store as shipping is allready exspensive enought. But with some luck i might be able to find these were i live now when i know what to look for. So it still helps me alot.

In general, pipe is measured by I.D. And tubing is measured by O.D.
Also, in my case metric and 1” bulk heads fit the same size hole.

Instead of ordering pipe from the US wouldn't it be easier just to change the bulkheads to the size in your country ??

Some solutions are just to easy sometimes..........
I did some reading just and it's the same saw hole diameter for EU and US bulkheads.

Thanks!
