Hi,

Can someone explain the mouth of the marine betta / what the attached video is showing? My marine betta is in qt and just munched on a live ghost shrimp. He caught some sand and is spitting it out in the vid but I’ve noticed the double mouth look before and finally caught it on video. I looked it up and is it a vent for breathing? The page I read this on didn’t really clarify if it was a fw beta or marine…

Really hope this isn’t a cut or something
(I feel like an idiot posting this btw)

It gives me the heebie-jeebies

I can't really tell you how this mouth works, but I can tell you my marine betta is exactly the same and has been very healthy for 8-10 years, so no worries !

They have the same kind of mouth lion fish do! If you watch a lionfish do the same thing to eat it looks exactly like the marine bettas! Super cool
