Question for the wrasse experts :)

My tank has FINALLY cycled and went I went to the fish store today (for the fifth time) and my water was ready to add some fish. (I have a 40 gallon AOI, so probably 36 in the display and the rest in back filtration.)

I knew I wanted a pair of clowns but wanted to add a couple other fish to start. From what was in stock, the guy at the store said I could get an algae blenny to help clean (which I did even though I think he is quite ugly) and a blue-lined wrasse. I asked about the temperment of the wrasse because I had read that some are more aggressive than others. He said that this type was on the easier side and would be fine.

Now that I am sitting down reading more about these fish, is my tank too small for my wrasse and is he going to be a problem? (Live Aquaria says 55 gallon minimum).

Thanks for you advice to the newbie!

Did I post this in the wrong place? Still trying to figure out this site. LOL

Not at all! Just called in the wrasse guru and all the other old salts who know more than me and could provide you with better help than I can. That’s all :D

Yes, it needs a bigger tank, I am afraid.

That's a 6-line wrasse. Very easy to keep. They will be bullies to other wrasses, but your clowns and blenny will be fine. Also, fine in a 40 gallon.

+1 to this.
Species matters a lot; a much different answer than if this was richmondi. :)

Thanks! I feel better now! It is a beautiful fish. I think I may name her Rainbow Brite.
