Hey reefers I’ve been looking at a tank that I want to buy that is a see through tank. What way would work best to manually put the black color on the tank glass?

Easy way will be use Rust-Oleum paint and paint the back black with a roller. Two coats max and you are done, just let each coat dry first.

That would be reed safe right?

Just tape it off and put plastic over the actual “tank”
I’ve always done it this way then put a couple coats of clear on it since I use a magnet to clean the tank. Makes it move smoother and protects against scratches

I've used black vinyl in the past with great results.

I used black window tint from amazon. It went on easy and looks nice.

I had my wife cook dinner, after she messed that up I took a knife and scraped the burnt pan for a couple hours. I then took some Elmer’s glue and spread that on the glass with a butter knife and proceeded to put the burnt stuff on the back.

Not a professional job, but it did the trick. I just have a few spots I need to touch up. I’m in no rush though, I try and have her avoid the kitchen.

if the tank is still not full of water, you might want to silicone a few pieces of dry rock to the upper side. I have done this in a couple of tanks. I makes a great little "mini-fuge" inside the main tank for the pods and friends.

My tank has black vinyl. Works well and if I get tired of it I can swap colors! A fella has to match!

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
