So I have been thinking about how hammers and frogspawn can both split heads as well as bud off from the stalk. I have had multiple occasion where I would cut the stalk off my hammer and leave the rest of it behind because their was a small bud living/growing. SO I guess my question is if the whole head of a hammer dies does the stalk have any chance of uptaking nutrients to form a small bud out of the stalk?

Evening

in my opinion if a branch dies and there are no new heads forming I would snip it at the lowest point on the stalk. You could put the new bud on a frag plug.

I had a head in a large colony die quickly and I left it in the adjacent heads began to die. If I snipped the head out the die off stopped. There’s a few threads where the mystery die off happens.
