So I am interested in buying a new apex and had one major concern. How does it tell you your power went out if your modem no longer has power? Do you need to have a battery backup for modem, router and the apex? This is one of the most important features I want. That way if im gone I know if power is out and can start my generator or have someone do it for me. So if there is any extra stuff I would like to buy it all at once. Not get it then need to order more.

Yes u need a ups for the modem and router. Belkin has a very slick one specifically for modems that puts out 12 volts. I have it and it powers both router and modem for over 12 hrs. It's fairly cheap too.

I haven't upgraded to Fusion and am not aware of this. Uncertain how this "separate service" can be accessed with no power to modem or router, unless it simply notifies you if you lose connection, which would be useful.

If u planing to upgrade to apex get families with it before do it. Fusion is part of apex and u not upgrading to fusion. Fusion is cloud base service and now go to neptune web side and dun some reading before asking another questions.

I have fusion and have never heard of fusion being able to notify me of a power outage. Would you care to elaborate on this rather than simply saying "look it up" ?

My apex is at the limit of a decent wifi signal. Untill I run a new wire it regularly looses internet connection for some time. Using fusion never got an alert. Might be a future option
