I'm re-start my reed and buying all new equipment except my 75 gallon deep blue tank and stand. If I empty the tank of water will this cause the silicone to shrink and cause a future leak? An outside source told me this and it makes since I guess. Thanks!!

If you empty it and let it sit for five years maybe. People buy used empty tanks all the time and don't reseal them. No, you can drain your tank and start over.
