Why front / back versus side to side, side to side would be more spread length wise i guess it depends on the width...

for a 24x24 cube would you suggest side to side?

If you have only 1 light it wouldnt make a difference. I have a 24x24x24 tank, I have just 1 radion and its running side to side but if I added a second light I would run them front to back. The light is 11.8" in length so running them side to side I would think would focus the light in the middle but if you placed them front to back it will balance out the light & you can center them better since they are 7" in width.

Reviving an old thread. How many G4 Pros did you end up getting? I am setting up an exact same dimension tank and am interested in knowing how yours have gone so far.

Thanks.

Hey there, I ended up getting 5 which was way too low. I ended up putting them inside the Aquatic Life hybrid unit, so now I have 2 48" fixtures housing a total of 5 G4 Pros and 8 48" ATI Blue +. If I stuck to LED only I wouldn't go less than 8 for my tank.

Thank you for the reply. I kind guessed 8 would be a good number. 1 per foot is what most people are saying.

According to BRStv Investigates: A complete look at the Ecotech Radion XR30 G4 PRO LED Lights (), when they did measurements 9" above the tank usting the AB+ settings, they got massive PAR readings. They even measured with the lights 2 feet above the tank and still got high readings, but ended up with a more even PAR spread across the tank.

I have a 60x30x24 and I run 5 XR15 G4 Pros with diffusers on mine. I find it’s more than enough light for my system, mixed reef. I have SPS all the way down to just about the sand. I would go with 7 Xr15 Pros, save some of that money for frags or other equipment. As things fill up, maybe add some T5’s.
