Hi everyone! I have an elos 120xl with 2xr30 g4 pros and one xr15g4 pro. I have an aquatic life hybrid fixture 48” 4x54w as well. I’m slowly trying to ram up the t5’s to maybe 6 hours. Right now front and back are both on together for 2 hours. I just rented an apogee 510 par meter and took readings with and without the radions. See attached pictures.

with the t5’s on I see a solid 20% sometimes 30% increase in par. Am I shocking my coral with this significant increase? My radions give a pretty solid par. Do I even need to supplement? Are y’all seeing a similar increase in par once your t5’s kick on?

tia!

Wanted to bump this. Today I noticed my princess peach wasn’t looking so good so moved it a bit lower as well. It was sitting in 475 with the t5’s on and I lowered it a bit to 350-400. I also reduced my photo period. I’m running 7 hours for peak, during which, I run the back t5’s for 1.5 hrs, then the front t5’s for 1.5 hrs. Before and after peak, I have a ramp period of about an hour.

I am running the same setup, also adding T5s to two Radions. Once I added the additional T5s, I decreased my Radion intensity by about 20% and left the T5s on for the whole lighting period. I slowly increased the Radions back up slightly over time. It is much harder to light shock coral using T5s than it is LEDs which is why I went that route.

Gotcha. Did you ever measure your par?
I did but unfortunately I don't remember the results other than I had to reduce my Radions by 20% to keep the PAR relatively stable. Like you, I was worried about cooking my coral so I needed a baseline as to where to start.
