Radion XR15 G4 or G5?

Opinion if I should get a used Radion XR15 G4 with diffuser or go with a new G5? Can get the G4 for about $150 less and it is in great shape but I do really like the spread the new G5 gives and it would obviously be new. Thoughts?

G5. I've had both and it's not worth the few bucks in savings. Get the better technology and enjoy it

True. Is the spread noticeably better for the G5 like people say? the main knock against the G4's seems to be the hot spots

The spread is much better. The blenidng is also is 10x better.

I owned both for quite a while and the G5 was definitely an imporvement IMO

The G5 is where it’s at...I just got the XR15 Blue and it’s an awesome light! I put a diffuser on my and added the reef brite kit to it as well!

Just curious - why the Reef Brites? Don't the blues on the radions make the corals pop enough?

Extra PAR! Don’t know if I’ll need it but it’s there if I do! I also intend to have the reef brites come on slowly first like a sunrise and then once they are at 100% the main light will start to come on. I also do the same thing in the evening and use them for moon lights. Besides all that - I just really like the LOOK lol

Works for me. I am a gear junky...way too much overkill. For the record, I'd do the same thing.

Is it true that the G5s don’t shimmer? I think that’s why people add reefbrites.
