Just thought I’d check with the expert(s), I’m at about a month. Just starting to fill in.

Is cycling the lights each day a good thing? Currently all gas no brakes 24/7 lights. (Lol)

thanks for looking, had a lot of aquaria. Never tried a scrubber out.

Update. Thoughts on this gap? It’s on both sides. I’ve seen something similar in a few screen cleaning threads on Santa Monica’s YouTube. I’m not complaining it’s around 190 grams of growth.

Wow a picture-perfect growth ring. No dead overgrown roots in the middle for you :)

You can just clean the tray, screen and slot, and let it continue like this, or change to lights on just one side, to see which give you more harvest.

I knew I heard about a growth ring somewhere. I feed a lot so I’m just going to clean and let it go as is.

The only thing I changed in the last month is a shorter (18 hr a day) photoperiod.

thanks for your continued help!

One is an algae donut, and the other is an algae beard :)

Would more light(s) benefit me? I guess it’s a complex question but I’m still seeing microalgae cyano in the display. Actually trying to cut back food input atm.

I’m a heavy feeding machine.

Cleaning more often will help. Although the growth ring lets light reach the middle for more days before dying, more often cleaning will still help. The lights are fine.

How long would you say the screen should last?

I’m already getting a tear near one of the anchors/feet. Doesn’t sound like much but it causes some channeling

Should last a while. They are thin on purpose, allow the most light and water to reach the roots, and so they can't be too thick.
Got a question for you. I purchased a new screen recently and I can’t get it “populated” like it was before. It’s growing in the base, down the drain even. I’ve tried more flow vs less and this is where it’s still at. Any advice is welcomed!
