So recently my local reef club had a frag swap and i bought a rainbow monti all the polyps on the monti are the same color so i wanted to know will they eventually change colors and how and why would they change colors. The frag has grown pretty fast and i haven't seen any new color all the polyps are a yellow orange color.
Thanks
Cole

My rainbow has yellow in the middle followed by orange and red at the edge. As it grows they seems to change to yellow where the new polys are red.

Your Rainbow Montipora will develope green polyps as they age. All of the new polyps will be either orange or yellow.

NO one is going to be able to tell you why with any certainty. It happens with the new growth....along the edges.

Mine hasn't- I've had it for several years and it's about 12" in diameter.
