Rainbow trachyphyllia: upset and needs some help..

I got this guy about 3 weeks ago and love him. He did well on a ledge about 1/3 up from the bottom. We put him there so he would get less disturbance from other critters and he is under an overhang so he gets only indirect light. He hasn't been coming out much the last few days and is pulled more. This morning I noticed him looking a bit pale. I don't think he needs more light as he is a low light coral. Should I just put him in the open on the sad bed and try target feeding him? I'm still new so a second opinion would be fantastic. This is my favorite coral and want it to thrive! I'll take a photo to show placement and one so you can see his coloration. He was brighter. Thanks for any advice!

Check you parameters. Keep him low and check on him at night when the lights are out. If his tentacles are expanded try to target feed him.

So parameters are ok-ish, 0 nitrite, nitrate. Dkh, mag, and calcium all good. Slightly high ammonia at 0.5 ppm but i was in the hospital last week and my mom was feeding. Added some ammonia lock and did a water change. I tried to feed him with a coke bottle over him and he showed no interest. He is now sitting on the sand bed. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated... About 1/3 of him has gone white!

I am also having a problem with my Trachy but mine was due to all my parameters going haywire after my sump sprung a leak and went all over the floor.. got everything back in line but the Trachy is not looking good anybody out there bring one back from the brink any advice would be helpful..

on your issue Trachy's are not necessarily Low light corral med is just fine and a little better for them, but with that being said usually coming from low light in the LFS to possibly higher light in your tank could be the problem they take time to adjust. if it hasn't started to recede it should be ok IMO. I would also put him in the sand bed a little further down may help.

Sorry about your sump! Hope your trace makes it too. They are one of my faves... My guy seems far happier on the sand bed and has extended again. But check out his coloring. It's weird how he is exactly half bleached and the bit that lost the color was the bit getting less light. I did a big water change and spot fed him a few times. He has even sent out his feeders. I am feeling better about him now. Best of luck to you. I did a lot of research online and I agree with you- if he hasn't started to recede, you have better odds. You can still get them back after they recede but it's a bigger challenge. I also saw several suggestions to dip him in a coral dip. I didn't buy thought about it if there was no improvement.

Do you dose anything for your corals in the tank? I am looking at kz coral booster or their LPS amino acids on BRS. I'm wondering if that will give him just a little extra to heal??? I don't currently dose anything except two part if and when necessary.

I don't dose but have thought about it also. But all other corrals are doing good I just spot feed and some times use dried plankton mix
