Hello,
I need a bit of help trying to figure out what's going on with my Trachy. I purchased a pinkish/rainbow looking trachy from a LFS less than two weeks ago. The trachy looked amazing in the store tank with mostly blue lights, so I decided to purchase it. I brought it home, temp acclimated it and dipped it a few minutes before placing it in the dt.
The first 2-3 days it looked nice an fluffy. All of a sudden the trachy is looking a bit pale and less fluffy than when I purchased it. The trachy is sitting at the bottom of the tank where PAR is about 75-150 with indirect flow. The light schedule is a modified AB+ running 12 hours with a 2 hours ramp up and down. All other corals in the tank are looking healthy, torches, hammer, frogspawn, zoas, recordea and montis. The substrate in the dt is reborn, I don't have any sand sifting gobi or the like that could be irritating the trachy. I've been feeding the trachy mysis and reef roids, alternating every two days. I'm also dosing twice a week Red Sea AB aminos. The trachy is eating fine, it get to open its mouth and consume the food. At night time, I can see that the mouth is fully open as if filtering the water for food but I don't see any tentacles.
Parameters:
ammonia: 0
Nitrate: 3.6
Nitrite: 0
Calcium: 476
Kh/Alk: 8.8
Magnesium: 1240 (bringing up to around 1350)
Phosphate: .15 (up from .05) - I did a 10% water change today, it should go down by tomorrow
Ph: 8.4
Salinity: 1.025
Temp: 78.6
I'm running chaeto in the sump with opposite light schedule. I also have carbon and rowaphos in the sump
I'm not sure what could be going wrong, hence posting here for some help. I will post a picture tomorrow with the lights on for you to take a look.
THanks in advance.
