Hello,

I need a bit of help trying to figure out what's going on with my Trachy. I purchased a pinkish/rainbow looking trachy from a LFS less than two weeks ago. The trachy looked amazing in the store tank with mostly blue lights, so I decided to purchase it. I brought it home, temp acclimated it and dipped it a few minutes before placing it in the dt.

The first 2-3 days it looked nice an fluffy. All of a sudden the trachy is looking a bit pale and less fluffy than when I purchased it. The trachy is sitting at the bottom of the tank where PAR is about 75-150 with indirect flow. The light schedule is a modified AB+ running 12 hours with a 2 hours ramp up and down. All other corals in the tank are looking healthy, torches, hammer, frogspawn, zoas, recordea and montis. The substrate in the dt is reborn, I don't have any sand sifting gobi or the like that could be irritating the trachy. I've been feeding the trachy mysis and reef roids, alternating every two days. I'm also dosing twice a week Red Sea AB aminos. The trachy is eating fine, it get to open its mouth and consume the food. At night time, I can see that the mouth is fully open as if filtering the water for food but I don't see any tentacles.

Parameters:
ammonia: 0
Nitrate: 3.6
Nitrite: 0
Calcium: 476
Kh/Alk: 8.8
Magnesium: 1240 (bringing up to around 1350)
Phosphate: .15 (up from .05) - I did a 10% water change today, it should go down by tomorrow
Ph: 8.4
Salinity: 1.025
Temp: 78.6

I'm running chaeto in the sump with opposite light schedule. I also have carbon and rowaphos in the sump

I'm not sure what could be going wrong, hence posting here for some help. I will post a picture tomorrow with the lights on for you to take a look.

THanks in advance.

Here are some pictures of how the corals are looking in the tank. The torches are super healthy, but I noticed the frogspawn and hammers look a bit closed up. Would you say they are too high?

As for the trashy, let me know what you think, if it looks a bit receded. I also started increasing the magnesium, it's now 1270 from 1240. I will keep raising daily until I reach about 1380 or so.

Here's my lighting schedule. Maybe this schedule is my issue. I'm trying to mimic World Wide Corals Superstore 100G tank. They have 2x Ecotech Radion XR15 Gen Blue.

If anyone here has a nice working schedule for the Noopsyche K7 3 Pro, please share the QR code.

Yes, move the hammers and frogspawn down. They prefer lower light than torches do.
As far as the trachy, it could be the mag.

If you are mimicking a larger tank, then it's the light. Trachy prefer low to moderate light and flow.
What size is your tank?

The tank is 40 gallons. I did adjust the intensity of the lights for this tank size. I have made some tweaks to the light schedule. It looks more balance at 65% peak and less intense with a 5 hours peak instead of 6 and a longer ramp up/down.

I will measure the PAR again and make sure its in range. I will post the result here.

Here are my PAR in tank. This is an older picture but you can see that where the trashy is sitting, the PAR is less than 150. I think it should be fine. As for where the hammers are, the PAR is also less than 150. Mind you, this is with the new schedule on post# 8.

Thoughts and idea will be greatly received.

I had a trachy which was my favorite coral. It went from thriving to receding, then dead, while I was away for a month.

It turned out to be flatworms. Multiple different LPS in my tank were infested. Flatworm exit did not kill them, but it did agitate them. Dipping my coral repeatedly over a month seems to have solved the problem. It was a pain, but no signs since then.

Hi. Sorry I’m just using the thread. Just curious is this Trachy is salvageable.
It didn’t look the best when it first arrived. I’m guessing stressed from shipping. It was pale and thin. Parameters are all stable. As you can see the Trachy next to it that arrived healthier is doing great.
Just curious if it’s salvageable and what I need to do. Or should I toss it out incase whatever is going on with it is going to affect my other Trachy. It was eating but it seems everytime it eats, it recedes even more.
Thanks!
