A couple acro frags that were doing great just randomly RTN'ed out of nowhere. All the others acros are doing fine... Any reason why?? One frag was encrusting, had polyps out and great polyp extension. Came back home after work and was dead and all white. Been doing great for months. Other frags have their color, polyps out and are growing. I had a slight alk swing of less than 1 dkh so maybe that's why. What other reasons could be attributed?

I don't know if anyone knows why this randomly happens. I've had it happen more than once similar to you. Coral doing great get up in the morning to a bone white skeleton. I understand fresh cut frags, shipping stress etc but I even had entire colony stn a while back that I had for several years.

So it's pretty much just random. Just try to be consistent and stable I guess and whatever happens happens. Its definitely frustrating

I've only been keeping acros for 22 months. It is probably the most frustrating part of keeping them for me. I haven't had it happen for a while knock on wood so maybe tank maturity has something to do with it but I dunno.

I have started carbon dosing with tropic marin, bacto balance and reef actif

just speaking for myself but that may be the cause... carbon dosing can be really tricky I have had some issues with it personally. I was playing the dosing of bacteria etc in one of my systems and I had some Radom rtn stuff like that happen. Not sure it was that but now that I just rely on feeding heavy fish poop and tank stability with a side of trace element things have never been better. The dosing of strange bacteria makes me nervous now

No you don't understand. I was dosing microbacter. The following day I would see stn pop up. The carbon dosing. I just started and no stn.
