I had a single large black widow bubble tip anemone that was about 8 inches in diameter when fully open. I just moved my tank to a new house earlier this week (Monday). Before the move, my anemone had just split in two for the first time and was still healing, and it wasn't fully healed when I took the tank apart. It split again the day after the move, and then again this morning. I went from 1 anemone to 4 in under a week, and it keeps getting smaller and more torn up with each split because it isn't healing in between. One half of the original split hasn't split since, but the other half is now 3 pieces. All of my parameters that I can measure look fine: 0 ammonia and nitrites, about 10ppm nitrates, calcium at 380, alkalinity at 9 DKH, ph at 8.1, and phosphates at .07. Salinity is 35ppt. Temperature is 79 degrees F. I don't have a magnesium tester or a tester for other trace elements like copper, iodine, iron, and others. The anemone is not eating krill or mysis but is still sticky to the touch and is still able to hold on to the rock with its foot. Is this rapid splitting a concern? How can I stop the splitting before it's too small for my clownfish?

They do split more often when they are disturbed. If the water quality and tank parameters are ok the new ones will grow up to the size of the original.

Nothing you can do except keep the parameters good for everyone.

Just wanted to check in. How are your anemones doing ?
One section died within 24 hours. The other 3 lived and grew big and happy. I rehomed two of them and kept the largest piece.

The piece I kept died during back-to-back hurricanes Helene and Milton last year along with almost everything else in my tank. I attached a pic of the tank with the anemone from a week before the first hurricane.

One of the two originals is doing great and has since split, and I might be getting one of the two halves in a few weeks when I visit that person.

I haven't gotten any updates on the other one.
