raspberry pi doser build question

I've started building a dosing pump using reef pi, I have a question about the guide I'm following though.
The fritzing breadboard diagram is slightly different to the picture of the finished board, I'm assuming I should follow the picture?
Asking here before I continue just to be sure.
 
Based on the datasheet, you should connect it as shown in the fritzing diagram. Pins 12, 13, 4, and 5 should connect to ground. You've circled a missing connection from pin 13 to ground.

It looks like the second variation you circled should also be included. The protoboard picture shows solder there, so maybe it's bridged on the bottom. That path seems to be intended to provide 5v to pin 16.

Tagging @Ranjib so he can chime in. A couple of edits to the Adafruit guide would also be helpful.
