Hi everyone,
I've had a small rbta since late August (when my tank was 7 months old) and it no longer likes to keep it's tentacles flowy. It'll bubble up every once in a while but its tentacles are small and stubby. I also noticed that it likes to keep it's disc flat (mouth closed) or just shrivel up, never how it used to look when I first got it.
Here's what's been going on in my tank lately:
-This is my third time battling bryopsis with Flux RX. It took it pretty okay but I did a half dose after a water change to get rid of the roots. It did not enjoy that so that could be the culprit.
-Nitrate bottomed out for a couple of weeks until the bryopsis started dying, then crept up to 1 ppm this past weekend. It's at 2.7 ppm now
-Phosphate is holding steady at 0.09 ppm
-Dosing NP Bacto-Balance once a day to bump up the nutrients in the tank and dosing AFR as needed to keep elements stable.
-Cleaner shrimp likes to invade its space and pick at it (ugh)
-I try giving it a bit of mysis or brine shrimp at least once a week when it does decide to open up. Thinking about feeding every other week.
-Poops pretty regularly every night.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong but this is just sad to come home from work and see it look miserable or weird looking. I miss how red and beautiful it used to look :(
Here are my most recent parameters:
-Alk: 10 dkh
-Ca: 487 ppm
-Mg: 1270 (dosed magnesium yesterday and will test again tomorrow)
-Nitrate: 2.7 ppm
-Phosphate: 0.09 ppm
-pH: 8.5
-Salinity: 33 ppm (ATO dumped a bunch of RODI water when I worked in the sump this weekend)
-Temp: 79.5 F
I use an AI Blade Coral Grow and set it up the light (screenshot attached). I also keep my flow moving in a circle around the rock work so there are no dead areas. I also attached a recent long video from a couple of weeks ago when I was well into my last Flux treatment for reference.
