I'm wanting to add a carbon reactor to my set up. I'm currently just throwing some carbon bags in the filter socks for temporary purposes. My thing is if I'm going to spend the time planning buying and installing one reactor for carbon, should I go ahead and do it for the calcium and gfo?

I have a 40g and use a BRS mini-reactor with a mix of carbon/gfo. It doesn’t tumble the gfo because everything is packed in to the media holder. It works great for me. If you have a larger tank it might not be enough.
