Ready for first coral!

Hello. Everyone. I’m ready for my first coral. I know the internetsss says to do a mushroom. But I am wanting something a little different that’s also easy. Kenya tree? Any other suggestion ? I know zoa is another option. What are your suggestions ? Thanks much !!

I'll second acans. They love a good target feeding (mine eat mysis like pigs).

As a new reefer myself, I've had mixed results with zoas (50/50 so far). I think it depends on which variety you get.

I've really liked my Leptastrea so far.

Duncans are pretty cool too.

How old is your tank?

Mushrooms, Duncans, Zoas, GSP, and Candy Canes are all good beginner corals

Thanks so much !!! Those are amazing photos. So. I have a 32 nano that’s been established for a year. I got it from marketplace from an experienced reefer. It’s now been established in my house for about two months (there was no disruption besides the 1 hour is took me to get home and plug everything back in)….i have a 55 that is currently getting cycled to start adding first fish. But the 32 is where I want to start …it has one clown. A shrimp. A turbo snail. A trochus snail. And a chocolate star. All healthy. …here are photos. … just basic rock.

The chocolate starfish is actually recommended to be in a fish only tank... they are opportunistic carnivores that CAN wreak havoc in a mixed reef. Google "caring for a chocolate starfish"

I agree with the above user that I would remove the cc star. Rest of your stock is fine

Hmmmm. I’ve been keeping him fed well which is what I read to do so that it wouldn’t …sadly
I don’t have anywhere for him to go. My 55 is still
Cycling.

Say hi to Carl, my first coral, a Japanese Toadstool leather, crazy easy, gets impressive, easy to frag (I've sold and given away 30 of these things), clowns love them, also rock flower nems, get them in early. If you can get a male and a female, they will spawn, takes a while to get going, but between me and my buddy, we've had hundreds easy. And somehow not invasive. They are non confrontational. And a great way to get reds and oranges around the tank
