Real Reef Rock turning into Live

Not sure but I just tried to reset what I believe was Real reef Rock with a Muriatic acid Bath and this is what it turned into....Feels and looks like Rice Crispy treats. I am interested to know what they are putting in this Rock.

Not real reef rock. Some kind of man-made new type of reef rock.

I buy my rock mined from Florida. I use to start with live rock but upon starting a new tank found out dry rock is better. With the new bacterias out now and the ability to buy pods, etc, one no longer needs to use live rock. I will not buy the manmade junk rock.
