I found some red bugs today on my Purple Nana colony I need to find a tank treatment for 150 gallon sps dominante tank. I found the Bayer complete for a dip but need a tank treatment. I also need to know where, how much, and how often and how many times to treat. Any help or personel experiences will be greatly appreciated.

Interceptor is the only treatment I know for redbugs as a whole tank treatment. You can do some searching over on reef central on dosage based on your water volume but the large dog pill treats about 375 gallons because I just went through it. It will also kill any pods in your system and also shrimp and hermet crabs but has harmed anything else. If you have a dog it is pretty easy to get from your vet as you can bring in some of the articles floating around the web if not I ordered the soft chews from Australia and they worked the same as the tablets and have the same dosage. Good luck with this pest.

they stopped making interceptor, sentinel is the new heartworm medicine. I used it a couple months ago with no issues besides the same ones that intercepter(killing pods, shrimp etc) had

I am curious if the sentinel worked because I have a frag that is infested with red bugs and now I need to treat the entire tank.

I would rather treat the tank then have to pull the frag out .

Thoughts please.

Jeremy, I used to work for a vet, Interceptor is no longer produced. However you can use Sentinel this is the sister product of interceptor, same ingredients, minus sentinel has Luferon, used to kill flea eggs. You can use it to kill red bugs in your tank and is highly effective. Ive had friends use it with anemones and clams with no problems. Will kill almost any inverts in your tank though. Go to local vet and ask for sentinel. Print out an article or this article because it is prescription and you will need proof to buy this product. The dosage is done by gram and the large white pill will treat 380 gallons. I would recommend 3 dosages, after each dose do a water change and add new carbon to remove any trace medication. Good luck with your problem.

Nope interceptor is it for most people that I know... I am guessing you need prescription for sentinel too... Both are hard to get unless you can convince a vet. I would like to get some interceptor or sentinel myself just to have as a precaution.

Sentinel it is then. Good getting that soon as I am waiting a week because I dipped the frag that was infested.
