That piece just looks to me like a fresh frag that was broken off of a larger colony with fewer polyps on the bottom half. Watch the bottom - encrusting is good, receding is bad. The tanks looks pretty sterile, so if it is new, expect some ups and downs with acropora for a while.

I would not chase anything because of this one coral.
 
For a new frag less than a month old, I wouldn't sweat a bit unless I am seeing tissue melting. Coral frags will look bad (mostly) for few days or weeks before they take off. Chasing numbers for a frag will do more harm especially if your other corals are thriving.
