Red Pulsing Xenia has gone MIA

Hello reefers.

I cannot find my red pulsing xenia colony i had in my RS Max Nano G2 XL. About a week or two ago, the xenia was looking great, but it separated off the base it was on and attached firmly to nearby LR. Now all of a sudden, this xenia I've had for almost a year is completely missing. It was perfectly fine and almost 7-8 inches in length fully extended with countless pulsing polyps.

No drastic parameter changes have occured, I test weekly and everything is nominal. Every other coral I have (Two torch colonies, 1 zoa colony, 3 branching hammer frags one head each, a smallish hydnophora colony, 12 head duncan colony, plump Acro colony, pipe organ colony, and back wall of the tank is lined with GSP) are all fat and extend healthily.

The only change I can think of is the use of just approx 1 mL of F-Aiptasia injected onto a pest aiptasia on the complete other side of the tank. I turned off the flow for this and after 30-min I siphoned out all the remaining F-Aiptasia with a baster i have lying around. Around this time, the tank did have a fishy coral smell to it, if that means anything.

Have you checked your salinity or temps?

Xenia can die back from increases in those but good news is sometimes they die back but come back from the smallest tissue

Yes, consistent 1.025 salinity kept in check with the RS ATO+, and temps range from 78-80 F depending on the time of day. Especially right now in South Florida it's really hot, I have cooling fans on for the hotter parts of the day.

Could be as you guessed a bad reaction to the aptasia dying if you weren’t running carbon.
Xenia can also starve itself out when it gets large enough.

Did you ever figure out what made the red pulsing xenia die off? Did you get any more to replace it. If so I will buy or trade a frag from you.
