Welcome to r2r! Sorry To hear about your ich situation. Do you plan to add more fish soon or will you just be adding coral for now? Keep updating I’ll be following to see the growth of your tank. I’m from Canada as whereabouts are you?

I plan to add more fish in the new year, I want a gem tang, and a small school of anthias.

Photos the wife sent me, I’m currently out of province working.
Looks like I’m getting some algae, probably a mini cycle from the move. Corals are all still alive which is good news! Will do some small water changes and cleaning while I’m home in December.

I’m also debating going T5 with orphek OR bar. Have some one willing to trade an 8 bulb ATI fixture with new bulbs straight across for my 2 hydra 26hd.... I’m going to take the trade, just because my future plans for the tank involve HEAVY sps.

I’ve just upgraded from the biocube 29 to a Red Sea reefer 425 as well. I’m getting everything ready to set up the 425. How much life rock are you using? In my biocube I’ve followed the pound per gallon rule but I’ve seen several YouTube setups where they’re only using 60 pounds for the 88 gallon display.

I probably have 50 lbs in the display, another 10 in the sump, and some marine pure spheres in the sump as well.

Have you used Seachem Matrix in the sump? I’ve always used it in the biocube and figured I can probably put a big of it in the sump under/by the filter socks. I’ve never had a sump so this is all new.

You can definitely put a bag of it in the sump. Any surface area will be good!

Thanks just ticking along after the move. Still no losses, and added a lavender tang. So that brings it up to 4 fish.
I’m bing super careful with fish I add, ensuring a full QT protocol to humblefish instructions.

I have a pretty good feeling my tank will be full of coral /fish by the summer. I definitely feel the need for a bigger tank now.

future plans for this tank? Adding a lot of SPS. Some more zoas possibly as well.
For fish I plan on adding a purple tang, a school of lyretail anthias, sand sifting gobie, and a few wrasses.
Then it will be planning an upgrade, while watching this thing fill in.

My parameters have been pretty stable at the following:
Alk 9.5
Calcium 465
Magnesium 1380
Nitrates 12
Phosphates 0.08
thats all I test for currently, I plan on doing an ICP test just to get a more in-depth understanding of my tank.

Well, it’s been a LONG Time since an update.
Where do I start! Well, currently have no corals, after my Red Sea head ache, I sold all my corals and am starting over.
Red Sea replaces my tank under warranty, and instead of risking the same thing again, I sold it!
Fish and rock are in a sketchy 190 gallon cube, that probably will leak if I fill it more then it is!
Have a 100 gallon rimless tank coming! Same dimensions as the Red Sea, but a better (my opinion) tank builder.
Building a stand for it while I wait, 3/4 ply, 2x4 bracing. Stand is 60inches long, thanks 48 so I’ll have 6 inches on either side, plus a lot more room underneath. Traded a Neptune DOS for a vertex Omega 200i skimmer, switching time eco tech versa pumps to control my calcium reactor, and dosing.
Also sold my gyres, and bought a pair of Nero 5s, and boy do I love them.
Other then that, all equipments staying the same. Hydra lights, apex, cor 20 blah blah blah.

hoping once this pandemic is over and I go back to work, to get it stocked full of SPS corals!
Oh, and my daughter was born, premature, but she’s kicking a** on every ones doubts of her doing as good as she is!

here’s some pictures of the stand, sketchy 190 gallon cube, and the baby!
Reason the 190 is sketchy is there’s a massive chip, right above the water line. Previous owner said it holds water. But I’m not trusting it.

Yeah, unfortunately the cube tank ended up blowing a panel. And with covid, I ended up being laid off.
I’m back to work now, and things are getting better with my tank, currently have a 100 gallon rimless tank set up. But, of course I want bigger, and my dream is a school of yellow tangs (5 of them) so I’m going for it once we take possession of our house.

Here’s the current tank, which will turn into a QT tank.

Yeah, it kinda went from one to the other pretty quick, which wasn’t the plan. I learned ALOT along the way tho, so hopefully the big tank goes as planned. Still trying to decide on the final dimensions

So, with a new tank in the plans, I’ll most likely update this threw with updates for a little bit.
I’m starting to order equipment again.
Ordered a Geos 618 calcium reactor. It should be shipping this coming week (4 weeks from order).
Added a prime Fuge to the refugium, and another Nero 5. Equipment wise this tank won’t be getting any thing more. The rest will be for the new tank.

all my current equipment will transfer over to the new build.
i settles on a 6 ft tank, 30 inches high. My only dilemma is how wide do I go. Do I go 30 inches, or 36.

for that tank, I’ll be using4 mp40s along with the Nero 5.
4 hydra 64hd, with 4 80 watt t5 as lighting.

my current tank will be used as a QT tank in the new house while the big tank cycles.

Yes this will be my final tank 10 year goal.
I’m thinking glass cages, or concept aquariums.
Concept is local to me, but, you need to be EXTREMELY specific on what you want (ie; no bubbles in the silicone, polished edges, etc)
