Red sea alk pro test kit help urgent...

I recently bought a redsea foundation pro test kit, and the alk test is very wired. After reading a few blogs, many claim it never reaches red coloir and stays orange. I messaged redsea, but have not git any reply from them. Please help, as my truns brown, then orange, but difference in the colour is very hard to judge. Need help as in when to stop. Here are the pics:

Ahhhhh the Red Sea alk test. The force must be strong in order to master this one young padewon.
If I remember correctly I would stop as soon as I see the transition from brown to ornage.
Then check amount used.

Its so dam difficult to judge when to stop. I asked a few fellow hobbyists here, all giving somany mixed reviews.. the transition of brown to orange is frustrating to judge. Any tips??

Been using this kit for 4yrs, I stop as soon as it turns orange. Standing in front of a window thus using ambient lighting "always" makes things a lot easier. Using light bulbs of any kind gives different coloring.

No it is not ok. Always use ambient outside day lighting. I test in front of my east facing kitchen window, for ALL my testing.
You can test this by moving from window to a bulb and watch the color change ever so slightly. But it does.
Incandescent bulbs give off a yellowish hue, fluorescent bulbs are stark white thus making the regent lighter looking than what it really is. Colored bulbs are obvious.

Oh and the instructions call for using ambient light.

^ Ambient light helps a lot. I used Red Sea for a couple of years and always tested in the mornings in idirect sunlight. That being said I found changing to Salifert helped even more.

Dam.. thts wierd. Such a well known brand and so confusing... thanks bro.. its night here now, will try it tomorow afternoon or morning.. and update here again..

Now I'm gonna have to break out my kit. (I usually use Hanna)
I don't remember it ever being that color.

Yea, ill try for a month, or will buy hanna. Problem is here in india the ppm version is only available, not dkh.

I'm all about accuracy too. I'm also a women who shops with bargains in mind. Salifert although accurate, as accurate as RedSea, is also more expensive. I personally can't justify the cost difference when the results are the same.
Bottom line it's all about personal preference. Ease of use versus cost. Keep in mind practice makes perfect [emoji6]

True... but didnt know salifert is more exp then redsea. I have salifert po4.. its decent.. but ill invest in a hanna, hopefully i get a dkh one n not the ppm. Seachem alk is also available here. Jus got a Seachem no3 test, n its decent. However iv yet not come across a 100% acuracy test kit. Plannin to they my water lab tested, but its very exp. Lets see. :)

Yea, if u see the pic, one is brown n other is orange. But to get that full orange i dosed full 1ml

I gotcha, i've never added a full 1 mL so I never seen the orange color, besides the color what is your alk testing @ are you still not getting a reading after adding the full 1 mL

I love Red Sea , do all of my test with Red Sea ,
Except Alk. And Po4 use Hanna checker , but with Red Sea it should turn blue after adding .4 ml and then from blue to orange will never turn red. It is very hard to tell the goldfish color from the orange.
