Red Sea clowns and a bubble tip

Will a bubble tip host Red Sea clowns? If so, when is a good time to add one? Since the tank is only a few months old I though about wait for another few months before I would add one.

Absolutely they are compatible. My pearleye Clarkii loved the BTA...only the BTAs don't like my tank for some reason!

Wait a few more months until the water chemistry is stable, then you can add the anemone at any time. It won't take long for your clown to find and claim the anemone :)

I added my BTA after 3 months. The conventional wisdom is wait a year. The important thing is keeping your parameters stable. If you can do that then you are good to go IMO. I bought my BTA from a local reefer along with the rock it was on so it was already healthy and established in a tank environment. I try to buy stock from local reefer whenever I can. Post in your local club forum and check Craigslist. It has been 2 months and my clowns are still ignoring the BTA. Good luck XD

I've never had this issue, but folks have reported success if you tape a picture of clowns hosted by an anemone on the display tank glass. Have you tried that?

My clowns are juvies so I figure they don't know about being hosted yet. I will definitely try that.

Also, if they are aquacultured, they may not yet know about anemones other than natural instinct. A visual aid may clue them in. My two fancy Ocellaris may require the same suggestive technique when I get them an anemone, but my Clarkii knew instantly what to do.

I will try anything that doesn't require physical confinement and putting stuff into the tank...XD thanks for the tip
