What would you call this result? Twice in a row it looked like this. Just started with these test kits most are easy to read my stats are usually goood but this one I’m struggling with

wow that is hard to read...what ever the number is I would safely say it needs to come down.

I use salifert, it's easier to match, the pinks are more defined.

I’ll try those then. Some of these are tough.

my guess would be around 35...yeah Salifert is easier IMO, thing is with your test kit, if you are aiming for around 10 you are still in the darkish pink territory, whereas with Salifert if it's a light pink you are in the right range.

To me it seems like a brighter pink than 20. Just more of a hot pink than any of them. It’s generally been between 10-20. Nitrite os 0. Ammonia is 0. Phosphate is between 0-.25. API still. Waiting on a better one in the mail. I’ll get a new test to confirm before I do anything. Everybody is happy and growing.

Yeah no panic with your nitrate

I can recommend Hanna or Elos high resolution for PO4, Hanna 774 would be my first choice

Yeah. It’s just more expensive the more I buy before I get that one. And I do want it. Considering what I spend on this hobby this is nothing lol

With these color comparison tests I pick a color that I try to stay below, rather than worrying too much about the actual number.

For example, NYOS has a color change at 12. If the test is any darker than that then I look at being the levels down.

I might pick either 10 or 20 on that color chart.

Yeah. My goal was to keep it under 20. I’ve got a slightly overstuffed tank with fish. If I can stay under 20 without having to dose anything I’m happy. And I do think I am. My thoughts are that the color Is much more vibrant than is on the chart but not as dark a shade as the 20. I could be wrong. I’ll see on Tuesday when I get my new tester.
