Good morning and happy new year to everyone.

I’m running a Reef ATO+ on my Innovative Marine INT-100 (100G DT + 50G Sump). The issue I’m running into is the pump timeouts on the ATO.

My sensor is in my return pump chamber, which is where the ATO fills to as well.

The issue is my ATO pump times out every time it runs. I’m having to resume the pump daily, sometimes multiple times if it doesn’t fill enough fresh water to reach the sensor.

Any suggestions on how to adjust this setup, or is this ATO simply not good for this amount of water volume? The protection is nice, but it’s frustrating having to babysit it.

It could be the sensor- mine went bad and was sporadic and eventually dumped several gallons in tank.
Red Sea replaced it and said to clean sensor every few months.
I don’t think you can adjust anything other than moving the sensor.

Might be able to update the flow rate in the app? Get an actual flow rate and then drop it until it gets you where you want? I’ve never done this and would depend if the ATO is going off a timer or is doing math about the volume it’s pumping in. It does have unusual inputs for height and length of the line for your ATO

Ugh, I hate that I have this ATO, it's junk. They just sent me my second sensor and a control for this same problem

Likely sensor and mine has been at 100% reliability

If you have done so, try to increase the length and height of these and see if it runs longer for you

I have a toothbrush that I rub against the sensor probe whenever I clean the skimmer cup. I do the same on my apex fmk optical sensors.

I’d also check the firmware every once in a while.

also ensure the tube height and length are set correctly.

I seem the be one of the few who has had no issues with the sensor!

This is a good idea. I’ll have to check it out. I did double my tubing runs, but it basically stops itself at 0.47G of ATO regardless of how long of a run I do. It’s smart to have the protection, but with the heat running I seem to be getting just over 1G of evaporation per day.
