Red Sea Reefer 170 G2 and Nero 5 pumps

Hey everyone! So I got a super great deal that I couldn’t pass on for some AI Prime 16HDs that came with a AI Nero 5. The problem is that I already have a Nero 5 in my tank! (Pretty much future proofed flow wise haha) I have them currently set to random between 15% - 30% and my SICCE 3.0 return pump set to 80% and I am still getting sand tornadoes below the pumps. Think you guys have any suggestions on how to reduce?

Turn them down more and move them higher on the glass up are really the only options - return pump shouldn’t really co tribute to sand stirring

It might be a lot of flow, I have a mp40 and a Nero 3 on my reefer 170 and I have the mp40 at 1% and the Nero 3 at 30% and I still get sand flying everywhere

Geez! 1% is crazy! I think I’ll try turning them down to a 5%-15% and see how that goes

No I got the mp40 for a steal lol

What sand do you have? I have two Nero 5s in my 170. I have sps so I need flow. I was bare bottom but decided I wanted to add a blue haddoni so I had to add sand. Figi pink was a catastrophe. I removed it and replaced it with arag-alive special grade. It moves around some and creates small mounds but doesn't blow around in the water. Nero schedule and tank below.

It’s pretty new but it’s going to be LPS dominant with a Zoa farm for. And yea I have Fiji pink in the tank now but may switch it out. I had araganite in all my past tanks. This is my placement now. I turned my SICCE 3.0 down to 75% and running both Nero 5s at random between 5% and 20% I’ll see how it looks on my lunch break

Haha that’s me too. I thought one Nero 5 would be too much but I basically go the second for free with the 2 Prime 16HDs, sooooo here we are lol

Maybe I should raise them up a bit? I had them down because I thought I was getting dead spot at the bottom

if it’s not blowing your sand around I would say leave them cuz your livestock looks like they are doing well.
