I'm thinking about buying the Red Sea 170. I want to plumb it into my sump in my basement so both my tanks can be run off the same sump, and also APEX and Trident. I want the Trident pretty much to be combined into both my tanks and the same dosing pump. So I still want to use the sump that comes with the Red Sea just for extra room to grow coral, no filtration! I was thinking of how to do this... I could drill a overflow box in the sump, have that go to the basement into my main sump, and have my Vectra pump push the water back upstairs. I already know the pump can go the distance just fine. My question is would this be a safe way to plumb it all together and not have anything overflow? Has anyone done anything similar?
