Hello. I purchased a Red Sea Reefer S-850 G2 at the end of 2022 and have had no problems thus far. The bottom seam and other seams look good. There is one questionable side, see pics. I contacted Red Sea and they said the seam is acting as it should. Should I be concerned with this?

Same thing going on with my G2 reefer 300 and I got the same response. Funny thing is someone with the same issue contacted RS and they told him they recommend he empty the tank. What makes it funny is his tank is out of warranty and they said empty it and my tank is in warranty and they said it was fine so I call BS and am looking for a replacement. I've seen this type of failure where algae destroys the silicon and it only continues to get worse. I figure RS hopes mine fails out of warranty so they can tell me to pound salt. It's my second RS failure and it will be my last. Even if I end up getting a new RS tank I would never bring it into my home and fill it.

My seams.

Red Seas reply in regards to warranty coverage.

Our team has thoroughly reviewed all the photos and information you provided. We can confirm that the seam protectors of your aquarium are functioning properly, and we believe your aquarium is not at risk of failure.

Sad part is you can order the same aquarium on alibaba for way less than what they’re asking

I stopped buying anything Red Sea. Period. Salt, additives, equipment.... find an alternative. These guys are pure crooks. How they got away without a major class action surprises me. 100 gallons of saltwater flood on a wooden floor is a $30k+ home insurance claim.

Today I received a marketing email from Red Sea. They are discounting their G2+ systems. Trying to offload remaining inventory of clearly faulty aquariums that are most likely going to fail in a few years. Any company with a shred of decency or sense of responsibility would not be knowingly selling faulty aquariums to gullible hobbyists.

Not sure if you have instagram, but noticed this last night...my G2 was purchased in November of 2022...I submitted a claim this morning, but it probably was in vain for sure. I hope our seams hold for us...for a while longer...sure, its only at the guard for me, but the silicone will continue to fail with a little more time. I am researching new tanks, but not sure I have it in me at the moment to build a new system, move everything over, and stomach the $5k. Maybe too burned out from all this.
