I have the Red Sea roller Mat 1200, and my daily usage was averaging about 70 inches. This is in a fairly heavily stocked 150 mixed reef. I’m in the process of completing a second tank at 200 gallons, so the usage was concerning. I contacted STEVE, and purchased six replacement rolls from him for $10 each., he gave me the name and email of another gentleman who sent me the adapter for 20 bucks (the inside diameter of Steve’s rolls is slightly larger than that of the red sea.

STEVE explained that he thought the Red Sea spec that their mat porosity was 200 micron was in error, that that was way bigger than what anyone would use. I may be mistaken now but I believe he thought there’s might be 20 microns. All STEVE had 20 µm filters, I believeI believe I got the 50 mm ones from him which he said other people seemed to prefer.

Everything has worked perfectly and the daily usage has dropped to about 40 inches which is more what I thought it should’ve been in the first place.

I'm considering the Reefmat 1200 but wouldn't do so unless I can get away from expensive proprietary rolls, so this thread is exactly what I'm looking for! How long are Steve's rolls that you buy? Trying to gauge roll total lifespan.
