Hi everybody, can anyone please help?! I bought a red starfish today, with black tips, I acclimatised it properly and didnt expose it to out of water, he has been at the bottom of the tank all day(14 hours and has moved very slightly) it has tiny tentacles sticking out, I don't know whether it still alive, do they take a while before they start moving around or is it more than likely dead or dying? Thank you in advance.

A picture would help. Absent that, the ‘tiny tentacles’ are almost certainly tube feet. Are they wiggling? Unfortunately these stars have a dreadful survival record in aquariums.

I would have thought he'd move into a hiding spot by now. They like darkness as they are nocturnal creatures! Mine is 8" and hides all day and comes out at night to feed on the rocks. I believe if your water quality is good, then acclimation is not always an issue! I know by experience only...I have had saltwater tanks in the past and have some experiences with not having proper acclimation for many of my tank mates and with an almost 95% survival rate. I didn't put corals in back then. I do have alot of inverts though. My current Star(same as yours) I believe, was not acclimated properly as he was a surprise to me. I have a pic of him in a hiding spot for you. I would check your params again to be safe. And check Salinity and Temp.
Mine likes Temp of 79-80 degrees and Salinity at 1.025-1.026
All other params are normal according to my cheap API Test Kit...lol
Here's a couple pics

Most of the time, if and or when I didn't have success with acclimation is when the specimen is already sick! I usually only get mine from a store that I visit and visually inspect every part of what I'm looking at...sometimes I'll even wait and go back to see if it's still there and doing ok before I make a decision on addition to my DT
