Update on the tank progress.

Versa has been up and running now and alkalinity stable at 9.5. Calcium at 440. Last mag check was 1280.

Started Dosing Vinegar at 5ml currently. Had very little algae to begin with but want to control it as much as possible with a bare bottom tank.

Added livestock:
Acans
Kroptonite candy canes (had some trouble after they got fragged but rebounding now)
Rastas
Space invader chalice
Montipora digi
Birdsnest species
Golden palys
Reverse bleeding Apple scoly

Added a Kung Pao Montipora, JF brain freeze montipora. Bubblegum digi and a favia frag.

Placed the montipora on some 4” tiles to hopefully grow out some nice colonies.

It’s been a while since I have updated this thread secondary to new baby and work.

Added and modified a few things. Was not quite happy with the way I had to plumb the Varios 2 to 4 return outlets so I actually redid this to just 2 returns. The flow is a lot better now. Added the hydor flo adaptors for randomness.

I also got rid of the Nero 5 and went with 2 IceCap 2k on opposite ends. I run these through a Wave Engine to have alternating left to right flow every hour. Running them at max 50% for 5 sec pulse.

As mentioned above I decided to purchase the Hydros WaveEngine. So far my experience has been great with this unit. Some hiccups in the beginning with connections but between my error and customer service it has been running great. Now I have some computer programming background from undergrad so I was okay with figuring out the programming. But with that said I can see how it can be difficult. I was able to get rid of the Varios 2 power brick and have the IceCap 2 k are running on direct drive as well.

Had a small start of some hair algae on frags so I went ahead and dosed some fluconazole. Not seeing effects yet but has only been a week thus far so that is expected.

Added 2 Bengaii cardinals and a 6 line wrasse, yellow Coris wrasse jumped to his death :(

It’s been a while since posting last. Covid has our hospital pretty busy and just been trying to stay healthy. The tank did take a hit in that aspect unfortunately. The hair algae had overrun quite a few sections of the tank despite regular manual removal. I have been having trouble keeping any LPS alive, they all grew well and then one by one started to recede. Sps however have still be thriving, so it’s left me baffled.

I did repeat dosing on fluconazole but at 4x strength and with a week all the hair algae was gone! Finally! Prior to that I was dosing Rowaphos in a reactor and changing every other day. Also did 72 hr blackout before dosing fluconazole to weaken the GHA.

no I’ll effects on coral or inhabitants as of yet.
Added a few SPS frags earlier in the week.
1.AquaSD Rainbow Milli
2.Red Dragon
3. Strawberry shortcake
4.Green slimer.

I just upgraded from the innovative marine 20 to the SR60 2 months ago And added 2 AI prime 16HD interested in your lighting schedule and how your growth is. I had 2 cheap hippagaro led lights on the 20 and the growth rate was very impressive now not so much.

Hey @Sparkyman. I would be happy to show you my current light schedule. I can either try and forward you the preset through the AI app or I can take a screen shot. I was seeing great growth with these lights but unfortunately had a mini crash and lost about 95% of all my LPS. My sps didn’t seem affected so I thought less of a water quality issue, although I’m sending off an ICP test soon. Overall for my goal of this tank I like the 2 Prime 16 lights for better speed than single 32. If I convert to more sps dominated tank I may as a 3rd for better full tank coverage. Although with the rock scape, I don’t know if a 3rd would provide much more usable light areas.

Your tank shows some awesome growth! Looks like a lot of softies and some LPS. If you just moved the tank, I would give the coals songs time to adjust.

I like my tank more on the blue spectrum for more pop. I still get good growth but maybe not as much as if I had more white spectrum.

i did just add the light diffusers made by 3DReefing today so we will see if that makes the tank blend better.
